CPSBB stands at the forefront of plant sciences in Europe by integrating modern molecular biology, genomics, metabolomics, bioprocessing, and plant genetics to unravel the plant biology and translating the scientific knowledge into new horticultural and industrial applications. CPSBB will answer the scientific and technological challenges identified in the National Research Strategy of Bulgaria. The vision of CPSBB is to be a nucleus of a plant science hub which consolidates academic and business establishments in the region, as well as plant science associations, farmers, end users, and administrative institutions in the region for the benefit of society. With the funds from PRIDST, CPSBB will further develop its human potential, maintain its state-of-the-art scientific equipment, and develop better connections with academia and industry in Plovdiv in order to form a plant science cluster for the benefit of the scientific and socioeconomic development of Plovdiv region, Bulgaria. Funding will be used for: (1) support and maintenance of the current administrative and technical personnel ; (2) Support of key group leaders, researchers, PhD students; (3) Funds for support of the research infrastructure (maintenance of the building and its systems, greenhouses, support of the specialized equipment and the core research facilities (e.g. metabolomics facilities, microscope imaging facilities, the bioreactor etc.). This will ensure sustainable development of CPSBB until 2029.
