The Institute of Mechanics at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences is a multidisciplinary institute, with a team capable of achieving the specific objective of the procedure for the development of cutting-edge and market-oriented scientific research. The applicant organization is a consortium established by a partnership agreement between the Institute of Mechanics - Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, as the leading organization, and:

  • Institute of Information and Communication Technologies - Bulgarian Academy of Sciences;
  • Central Laboratory for Solar Energy and New Energy Sources - Bulgarian Academy of Sciences;
  • Technical University - Sofia;
  • Sofia University "St. Kl. Ohridski";
  • University "Prof. Assen Zlatarov", Burgas;
  • Higher School of Insurance and Finance;
  • GIS "Transfer Center".

The main task of the consortium is to unite the efforts of prominent scientists and university professors to create a unified infrastructure for high-tech innovative scientific research aimed at business - a Center of Competence, in the thematic area "Mechatronics and Clean Technologies".

In this area, scientific research will be carried out at a high, modern level; methodologies for training and qualification will be developed; strategic partnerships will be built with leading scientific research organizations in Europe; work will be carried out on innovation projects with Bulgarian companies, etc. The infrastructure proposed for construction under the project is distributed among the partners in the consortium. It consists of 4 bases with 15 laboratories built and equipped in them. Scientific research activities in the laboratories are grouped into 6 work packages:

  • Innovative solutions in robotics and automation;
  • Biomechatronic systems;
  • Intelligent environments, processes and technologies in mechatronics;
  • New methods and tools for control and testing of mechatronic elements;
  • Mathematical support and modeling of complex systems and processes;
  • 3D modeling, development and implementation of pilot models of elements, details and systems for mechatronics.
