The project is focused on the development of innovative research solutions related to public health, infections, and immune response to infections. The partners in the center are: National Center of Infectious and Parasitic Diseases (leading partner), Institute of Microbiology at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, National Diagnostic Research Veterinary Medical Institute, Medical Institute of Ministry of Interior and “ImunoPathogen” Association.

The project includes the following activities:

  1. Research activities and dissemination of scientific results:The center will continue to explore key areas such as the molecular epidemiology of infections of public health significance, mechanisms of antimicrobial resistance in microorganisms, development of innovative diagnostic methods and algorithms, and research on the microbiome and inflammatory processes. These scientific activities will be shared with the public and partners through publications and active participation in scientific conferences and forums.
  2. Modernization of research infrastructure: The project plans to modernize the existing infrastructure with high-tech equipment for advanced research. The equipment will be state-of-the-art, energy-efficient, and resilient to climate changes.
  3. Training and mobility of researchers:The center will promote the mobility of researchers while attracting young scientists and specialists. The training will focus on acquiring new technologies and methodologies related to immune responses to infections and diagnostics, providing opportunities for international exchange of knowledge and experience.

The mission of the center is to address the new challenges related to the emergence of new and forgotten infections, increasing antimicrobial resistance, and the aging of the immune system. Its vision is to become an internationally recognized expert body in the field of infections and immune responses, providing scientific and practical solutions for individual and public health.
